In the Earth trailer sprouts glimpse at Ben Wheatley’s latest

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So it's finally here! The eerie and atmospheric trailer for Ben Wheatley's (Kill List) upcoming psychedelic eco-horror thriller In the Earth – which he directed during quarantine – has just sprouted online! And you can now watch it at the top of the article!

Here's the official synopsis:

As the world searches for a cure to a disastrous virus, a scientist and park scout venture deep in the forest for a routine equipment run. Through the night, their journey becomes a terrifying voyage through the heart of darkness, the forest coming to life around them.

While that synopsis sounds just like a more competent version of M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening, the trailer itself seems closer to the trippy phantasmagoria of Annihilation – which is definitely promising!

In the Earth – starring Joel Fry, Ellora Torchia, Reece Shearsmith, and Hayley Squires – will be spreading into theaters April 23rd!

So what do you guys think? Looking forward to another Wheatley joint? Either way, sound off below!
