Independence Day: Resurgence Roland Emmerich Jeff Goldblum

After a twenty year wait for a sequel to INDEPENDENCE DAY, we're now less than a month away from the release of INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE, and the marketing department has shifted into overdrive to make sure we know it. Posters, epic trailers, featurettesviral videos, and now clips – RESURGENCE is hitting potential viewers with so much material that it's not unlike an invading alien force bombarding the Earth.

Our latest glimpses at RESURGENCE are embedded below. First up we have a featurette called War that is all about the new battle between humans and aliens. The second video is a clip from the film that asks the question "Why are they screaming?" and features the return of a character who was thought to have been killed off in the first movie.

Directed by Roland Emmerich and written by Emmerich, Dean Devlin, James Vanderbilt, James A. Woods, and Nicolas Wright, INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE has the following synopsis:

We always knew they were coming back.  After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale.  Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet.  But nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force.  Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, Judd Hirsch, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Liam Hemsworth, Joey King, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, DeObia Oparei, William Fichtner, and Jessie Usher star.

RESURGENCE will be in theatres on June 23rd.
