International poster for Paranorman pits Norman against a ghoul

Since the new trailer for PARANORMAN debuted earlier this week, I find myself eagerly anticipating the unusual animated horror-comedy. Just seems like an enjoyable experience (in the same vein as MONSTER HOUSE) and in these troubled times that’s all we can ask or hope for. It doesn’t come out until August of next year, but it’s obvious that the studio wants everyone to be prepared for it early, as the marketing machine continues in earnest.

Case in point: A new international poster for the film has debuted over at Empire; you can see it below. The fact that Norman seems to be flat-out admiring a zombie crotch is a tad unnerving, but if you ignore that, you can pretty much catch what PARANORMAN is throwin’.

Norman Babcock is an outcast in his small New England town. When a horde of zombies is unleashed on the populace, Norman learns he must use his paranormal powers to make things right again. That’s not an easy task when you’re only eleven. And you’ve just been grounded.

The voice cast includes Kodi Smit-McPhee, Casey Affleck, Anna Kendrick, John Goodman, Leslie Mann, Jeff Garlin, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Elaine Strich, Tempestt Bledsoe, Bernard Hill and Alex Borstein. It opens on AUGUST 17, 2012.
