International trailer for The Meg gives us even more giant shark action

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

When someone says "I'm not getting eaten by some pre-historic fish" in a movie about a giant pre-historic shark, well, that's pretty much a sure sign that you will get eaten by "some pre-historic fish." Farewell, Rainn Wilson. We hardly knew ye. This weekend finally saw the release of the first trailer for THE MEG, and I was surprised to admit that it looks like an absurd amount of fun. Jason Statham. A giant shark. An advanced undersea facility. What could go wrong? A new international trailer for THE MEG has now been released which offers up more footage from the Jon Turteltaub film as well as a more consistent tone than the first trailer, which played its images of shark carnage to the tune of Beyond the Sea.

The official synopsis for THE MEG:

A deep-sea submersible—part of an international undersea observation program—has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific…with its crew trapped inside.  With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew—and the ocean itself—from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon.  What no one could have imagined is that, years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature.  Now, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below

THE MEG will hit theaters on August 10, 2018.
