Interstellar cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema to lens Bond 24

JoBloJoBlo

Despite sadness at the great Roger Deakins not returning to reprise his role as cinematographer for Sam Mendes‘ BOND 24, we will be getting a very talented person behind the lens for 007’s next adventure. Reports have Hoyte Van Hoytema taking over director of photography duties on the follow-up to SKYFALL.

Most may not recognize the name Hoyte Van Hoytema, but you likely will know his work. The Swiss-born cinematographer became highly in demand after the release of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN but has gone on to lens David O. Russell‘s THE FIGHTER, Tomas Alfredson‘s TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY, Spike Jonze‘s HER, and the upcoming Christopher Nolan film INTERSTELLAR. His visual sensibility will be as lush as Deakins but will also bring a modern edge.

HitFix also reports that Sam Mendes and Hoytema may shoot BOND 24 entirely on digital, a first for the 007 franchise. It remains to be seen who will be joining Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, and Ben Whishaw in BOND 24, but with production set to begin this December for a November 6, 2015 release, expect to know more soon.
