The status of films releasing later this year may be subject to change with the whole internal issues that Hollywood is having; however, some of the smaller titles are seemingly safer than others. One of the films that is aiming for a December release date is A24’s The Iron Claw. The film, which stars Zac Efron and The Bear‘s Jeremy Allen White, is a biopic based on the story of the wrestling family that became legends in the world of sports entertainment, the Von Erichs. The Iron Claw‘s release schedule is slated around bigger movies, such as Illumination’s animated film, Migration, as well as the higher-profile Warner Bros films Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Color Purple, provided they aren’t delayed like rumors may suggest.

So far, the film is in post-production, which means it is not expected to premiere during the film festival circuit. Paparazzi photos have shown Zac Efron in an incredibly bulky and ripped state as Kevin Von Erich and Efron himself shared a sneak peek of his wrestling action, but Variety now passes along a first look at the cast photo featuring Efron, Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich, Harris Dickinson as David Von Erich and Holt McCallany as Fritz Von Erich.

Sean Durkin, director of Martha Marcy May Marlene, is helming this film, which he is directing from a script he wrote. The Cannes and Sundance prize winner’s film will be coming from the indie studio darling A24, as they will finance and produce the movie along with co-financiers Access Industries and BBC Films. Tessa Ross, Juliette Howell, and Angus Lamont will be producing the wrestling biopic from House Productions.

The cast not only features Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, and Holt McCallany but will also include Maura Tierney and Lily James. One of newest additions to the cast, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, is the current heavyweight champion of AEW, and had previously wrestled for Major League Wrestling, Combat Zone Wrestling, and Five Borough Wrestling, having made his debut in the ring in 2015. The Bear‘s breakout star Jeremy Allen White is parlaying his newfound acclaim from his show into the film world, and the dedicated actor has revealed that he had put on 40 pounds of muscle for his role as Kerry.
