Is the adaptation of Stephen King’s Bag of Bones finally getting made?

Can it be? Is it possible? Are we really going to see an adaptation of Stephen King’s 1998 novel BAG OF BONES? If the site Sea and Be Scene is to be believed, the answer is “Yes”. And sooner than you might expect.

The Nova Scotia-based site claims longtime King collaborator Mick Garris (SLEEPWALKERS, “The Stand”), will begin shooting BONES as a mini-series in Nova Scotia July 6th, 2011 continuing through to August 31st, 2011. It also reports that pre-production is going on now in the province.

This development is surprising, considering we’ve heard of no concrete movement on this project in some time. No cast has been announced, but we know that Matt Venne (MIRRORS 2) once penned a draft of the teleplay; no word if that’s what being used “if” this is actually happening.

The book’s official synopsis: Several years after his wife’s death, novelist Mike Noonan still suffers writer’s block. A dream inspires him to return to the couple’s summer retreat in western Maine, a lakeside house called Sara Laughs. Shortly after arriving, Noonan is caught in the middle of a custody battle involving the daughter of an attractive young widow and the child’s enormously wealthy grandfather. He also discovers that Sara Laughs is haunted and that his late wife, Joanna, still has something to tell him.

We’ll keep a close eye on this to see if it’s the real deal.
