It’s showtime!

After several years of being in-the-works, Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and Langley Park Productions have announced that the stage show featuring “The Ghost with the Most” will finally rise from the grave to make its pre-Broadway debut at the National Theater in Washington D.C. in October of this year.

Directing the production based on Tim Burton’s classic horror comedy, BEETLEJUICE, will be Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher). Joining Timbers for the engagement will be choreographer Connor Gallagher (The Robber Bridegroom) and composer Eddie Perfect (King Kong). The show will also have a book accompaniment by Scott Brown and Emmy nominee Anthony King (Broad City).

Billed as a “ruder, raunchier, and frankly, more repellant” version of Burton’s original work, the Broadway adaptation of the “laughs after death” tale will again center on the story Lydia Deetz, a morose teenager obsessed with the undead. Fortunately for Lydia, her new home comes complete with a few unwanted guests by way of a recently deceased couple (Adam and Barbara Maitland) and a conniving poltergeist in a black-and-white striped suit named Beetlejuice. After Lydia brokers a deal with the fast-talking entity to help frighten her unendurable and opportunistic parents, Beetlejuice unleashes his hauntingly harsh scare tactics on his latest unsuspecting victims with a loftier goal in mind.

While little else is known about the Broadway adaptation of BEETLEJUICE, so far, we do know that COMMUNITY star Danny Pudi is in-line to star in the production. For more information about the show, you can visit BeetlejuiceBroadway.com and sign up for updates about the show.

Additionally, the company in charge of the show would like to stress that BEETLEJUICE will not be a family-friendly presentation. Fans of Burton’s imaginative classic can expect there to be course language, gore, and moments of abject terror when BEETLEJUICE is resurrected for the grand Broadway stage.
