Jack Skellington actor wants to return for more Nightmare Before Christmas

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Best know in our beloved genre as Detective Mike Norris in director Tom Holland's CHILD'S PLAY and Jerry Dandridge in Holland's horror-comedy FRIGHT NIGHT, Chris Sarandon is also the man behind the voice of Jack Skellington in Tim Burton's THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

And today Sarandon admits that he would love to reprise his role as the Pumpkin King in a new movie, saying:

I'd crawl on my hands and knees, from the east coast to the west coast, in the spring or the fall, to do it again. Of course, I would. I love that character and I love that I'm part of a legacy of that character as well.

While there aren't currently plans for a sequel, a  live-action remake was rumored last year. But whatever happens in the future, you can expect creator Tim Burton to keep his distance. He's said in the past:

I was always very protective of [Nightmare], not to do sequels or things of that kind. You know, ‘Jack visits Thanksgiving world’ or other kinds of things, just because I felt the movie had a purity to it and the people that like it. Because it’s not a mass-market kind of thing, it was important to kind of keep that purity of it. I try to respect people and keep the purity of the project as much as possible.

Burton's involvement be damned. I'd kill to see another entry in this series. Especially if Sarandon returns as Skellingotn. How badly do YOU want to see a sequel and/or live-action remake of Tim Burton's THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS? Make sure to hit us up and let us know below!

Henry Selick directed the film from a screenplay by Caroline Thompson and Michael McDowell based on a story and characters created by Tim Burton. Tim Burton and Denise Di Novi produced. It featured the voice talents of Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, Catherine O'Hara, William Hickey, Glenn Shadix, Paul Reubens, Ken Page, and Ed Ivory. Walt Disney Pictures released it into theaters back on October 29, 1993. Buy it on Blu-ray HERE.
