With the debunked news that Nicolas Cage would be joining THE EXPENDABLES 3, you can rest assured we will be hesitant to make any formal announcements about casting for the movie. But, recent statements made by Jackie Chan are both exciting and somewhat dubious claims about THE EXPENDABLES 3>
While promoting his new film CZ12 overseas, Chan told the media that he will be in THE EXPENDABLES 3 and gave this statement about the sequel: “Sly had invited me to be in THE EXPENDABLES 2 but I was too busy filming CZ12 and couldn’t make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes.”
Chan also mentions he convinced Stallone to make the movie a “buddy cop” type story, which sounds a little fishy to me. Could this entire quote have been taken out of context or translated incorrectly? Possibly. But, if there is even a remote chance that Chan could be in the film, I would be all for it.
My only concern is that THE EXPENDABLES is going to begin to suffer under the weight of its cast. If you have two many stars, eventually no one gets enough spotlight. Maybe this would work better as a spin-off adventure.
