The team behind the chilling tour de force NIGHTCRAWLER is back at it again. Nine Stories and Bold Films are partnering once more on a Jake Gyllenhaal feature, this time adapted from the Jo Nesbø crime novel THE SON. The film is set to be directed by Dennius Villenueve, who previously worked with Gyllenhaal on PRISONERS and ENEMY.

THE SON:

follows the life of Sonny Lofthus, a once gifted 15-year-old and promising wrestler, whose downward spiral ensues when his cop father commits suicide. For the past twelve years, Sonny’s time in prison has been nurtured by an uninterrupted supply of heroin from a seedy chaplain on the inside. When Sonny learns long-hidden truths about his father’s unexpected death, he makes a brilliant escape and begins hunting down the people responsible for his wrongful sentence.

There is no official production date yet, but presumably it will be sometime after Villenueve officially wraps his work on BLADE RUNNER 2, due October 6, 2017. More details as this story breaks!
