Say what you want about James Franco, it doesn’t look like he’s held back at all in adapting Cormac McCarthy’s disturbing CHILD OF GOD, which he wrote and directed (and of course co-stars in). The book is a weird and unsettling one, and from all indications, Franco has done it justice.

A new trailer for the film has been issued, and you can find it below. Well Go USA Entertainment will distribute the film in limited release to select U.S. theaters on August 1st.

CHILD OF GOD focuses on…

Lester Ballad, a dispossessed, violent man who tries to exist outside of the social order. Deprived of parents and housing, his loneliness and despair relegates him to the level of a cave dweller and he falls deeper into crime and degradation in a small town at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Tennessee in the 1960s.
