Niels Arden Oplev's FLATLINERS remake is heating up, with production expected to begin this July. The cast is being swiftly gathered before that date, the newest addition being British actor James Norton.

Norton, who will be playing would-be doctor Jamie, has extensive TV experience in series like Grantchester, Happy Valley, and War & Peace, though he has appeared in quite a few critically acclaimed movies, including MR. TURNER, BELLE, and AN EDUCATION. He is perhaps best known for playing Guy Edwards opposite Chris Hemsworth in 2013's RUSH.

Written by Peter Filardi and directed by Joel Schumacher, the original FLATLINERS has the following synopsis:

At University Hospital School of Medicine, a group of ambitious medical students are about to die… and live to describe the experience.

Embarking on a daring and arrogant experiment, the five aim to push through the confines of life and touch the face of death.

In their search for knowledge, however, the five discover the chilling consequences of daring to tamper with immortality.

Norton will be joining Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Kiersey Clemons, and Nina Dobrev in the cast. SOURCE CODE's Ben Ripley has written the screenplay for this new take on the material.
