Jane’s chronicles

Variety reports that Thomas Jane (who no matter what anybody says, was bang-on in my opinion in THE PUNISHER) has signed on to star as the lead in THE MUTANT CHRONICLES, which is based off of the board game of the same name (as well as the cancelled online version).

Jane, who has just come off of John Madden’s KILLSHOT, will apparently work on and complete this film before he goes back to work as Mr. Skullshirt in THE PUNISHER 2. Simon Hunter will helm the film from a screenplay he penned with Ross Jameson. The project is expected to get underway in Spring 2006, though casting is still underway.

The film is set in the 23rd century, in which four giant corporations have taken the last of earth’s resources (a sign of things to come, perhaps?), causing a demonic, marauding army of underworld NecroMutants to rise up and wage war against humans for what remains. Jane will take on the role of a battle-weary Marine who leads a squad of soldiers against the mutant baddies.
