Jason Blum wants a sequel to Netflix’s webcam porn thriller Cam

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Blumhouse, Gunpowder & Sky, and Divide/Conquer collaboration CAM hit Netflix back on November 16th. And since then, the movie has been snatching up praise left and right. In fact, the film currently holds a 98% fresh Rotten Tomatoes score and even Stephen King himself took to Twitter to share his favorable thoughts on the film, saying "Loved CAM, on Netflix. Great lead performance by Madeline Brewer."

And if all that wasn't enough praise for the feature directorial debut of Daniel Goldhaber, a few weeks back someone over on Twitter asked Blumhouse head honcho himself, Jason Blum, if there was ever going to be a sequel to the film and Blum enthusiastically answered:

I'd love to make one!

Personally, I haven't had the chance to check out the flick yet. That said, after reading that quote from Mr. Stephen King above, I'm currently clearing up all my plans for the night. The new Friday night plan is to grab a bucket o' popped corn, grab my sweetie, and watch some shite that's been described as a "technology-driven psychological thriller set in the world of webcam porn." My girlfriend should love that…

The movie's official synopsis goes a little something like this:

An ambitious camgirl wakes up one day to discover she’s been replaced with an exact replica of herself. As this copy begins to push the boundaries of Alice’s internet identity, the control that Alice has over her life, and the men in it, vanishes. While she struggles to regain what she’s lost, she slowly finds herself drawn back to her show and to the mysterious person who has taken her place.

Madeline Brewer (Orange Is the New Black) stars in the film with Patch Darragh, Devin Druid, and Melora Walters rounding out the cast. Goldhaber developed the story with Isabelle Link-Levy and screenwriter Isa Mazzei. The film is now streaming on Netflix HERE. Check out the trailer below!
