Empire got their hands on a new promo poster for ATTACK THE BLOCK, the British flick that has been making waves with buzz since its debut at SXSW. It’s not the first time we’ve seen artwork boasting sharp fangs, but this time around they belong to an extra-terrestrial enemy.
The sci-fi/action film is written and directed by Joe Cornish. It is executive produced by SHAUN OF THE DEAD director Edgar Wright and stars Nick Frost, along with Jodie Whittaker, John Boyega, Alex Esmail, Franz Drameh, Leeon Jones, Simon Howard, Luke Treadaway and Jumayn Hunter.
Sam is walking home in a scary South London tower block when she’s robbed by a gang of hooded youths. She flees when the gang are attacked by a small alien creature which falls from the sky. While Sam and the police hunt for the gang, a second wave of creatures falls. The gang grab weapons, mount bikes, and set out to defend their turf. But this time, the creatures are much bigger. Savage and bestial, nothing will stand in their way. And the bunch of no-hope kids who just attacked Sam are about to become her only hope.
ATTACK THE BLOCK hits U.K. theaters on May 11. It will be released here in the U.S. later this year by Sony Screen Gems.
