Well it’s no secret that we’re all huge fans of Jean-Claude Van Damme here at AITH, or JCVD for all us insiders. Hell, I’m pretty sure The Arrow is more of a JCVD fan than JCVD himself! And that’s saying something!

Well if your an avid Van Damme fan… or even an average JCVD fan, I’m sure you’ve been excited about his upcoming mockumentary entitled J.C.V.D..

The film debuted at this year’s Cannes and The Arrow was lucky enough to be in attendance and got to check it out for himself. (Check out his review HERE). Now I’m sure your asking yourself what I’m going on about…

Well we got word today that Peace Arch have just acquired the North American distribution rights to J.C.V.D.! Not only that… but they’re planning on putting this bad boy in a limited theatrical release! JCVD back in theaters? How is that not awesome?!

Apparently the film will be making it’s North American debut September 4 at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival on the opening night of Midnight Madness, Peace Arch will release it in theaters shortly after that.

So it looks like we can expect J.C.V.D. to hit select theaters in mid-late September… that’s only a month away! As soon as we hear any updates, like a theater listing, we’ll pass them along. Meanwhile here’s the (brilliant!) synopsis for the flick from the press release:

Jean-Claude Van Damme finds
himself out of money, fighting for custody of his daughter and losing every good action role to
Steven Seagal. In an attempt to escape, the aging star walks away from his shrinking spotlight
and returns home to his native Brussels. But when he is thrown into a real-life hostage
situation, everyone sees a side of Van Damme they’ve never seen before as he takes on the
police, battles the perpetrators and creates a media firestorm that captures the attention of the
world.
