Having recently found a bit of success with the exorcism-themed THE RITE, Warner Bros. are putting their priest robes back on for THE SEVENTH SON. Words is out that none other than Jeff Bridges – easily one of the most talented actors out there today – has been cast in the flick.
Bridges will play Exorcist Master Gregory, also known as “The Spook.” He joins lead actor Alex Pettyfer (I AM NUMBER FOUR) and Jennifer Lawrence (below, WINTER’S BONE), who will play a suspected witch. It has also been revealed that Sergei Bodrov (MONGOL) will direct the film off a script by Max Borenstein.
Tom Ward, a young boy training to be an exorcist in the 1700’s, must learn how to exorcise ghosts, contain witches, and bind boggarts. Trouble begins when he’s tricked into releasing the most evil witch in the world.
The film is an adaptation of Joseph Delaney’s young adult book series, The Last Apprentice. Production will begin on August 1st in South Africa.
