Jennifer Tilly has been told she’ll be in the Chucky TV series

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

MGM may have released a surprisingly entertaining CHILD'S PLAY remake last year, but over at Universal the original Chucky is still going strong. Universal Content Productions is behind a Chucky television show that recently received a straight-to-series order from Syfy.

Don Mancini, who has written every CHILD'S PLAY / CHUCKY movie (except the remake) and directed a few of them, serves as showrunner on Chucky and is executive producing the show with David Kirschner, Nick Antosca, and Harley Peyton. A follow-up to the seven films in the original timeline, Chucky has the following synopsis:

After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

Brad Dourif has said he'll be providing the voice of Chucky once again, and now another franchise regular has said she'll be back. Speaking with Page Six, Jennifer Tilly, the BRIDE OF CHUCKY herself, said

I’m so excited. Chucky is very near and dear to my heart. All over the world, everywhere I go, I step off a plane to a country I didn’t even know existed, and they know one word, and that word is ‘Chucky,’ and they want a hug. Don Mancini, who created the Chucky 30 years ago is the writer on this series, so it’s the original Chucky. His partner is Nick Antosca, who did ‘Channel Zero,’ which is just a chilling anthology of horror stories, so a little bird told me that I am going to be a part of it."

Tilly said Chucky will begin filming this summer, but she's not sure how many episodes of the show her character will be in.

Mancini will be directing the first episode of the series, and like Tilly I am very excited to see this show get rolling.
