Bill Murray zombie-comedy The Dead Don’t Die hits this June

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Last July we passed along word that indie director Jim Jarmusch's latest movie is a zombie comedy starring Bill Murray (GHOSTBUSTERS), Adam Driver (STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI), Chloe Sevigny (KIDS), Tilda Swinton (WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN), Steve Buscemi (RESERVOIR DOGS), and someone named Selena Gomez called THE DEAD DON'T DIE. And today we have word that Focus Features will release it this June.

Billed as “the greatest zombie cast ever disassembled”, THE DEAD DON'T DIE boasts an all-star supporting cast which includes Danny Glover (LETHAL WEAPON, PREDATOR 2), Caleb Landry Jones (THE LAST EXORCISM, GET OUT), Rosie Perez (PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP), Iggy Pop (THE CROW: CITY OF ANGELS, TANK GIRL), RZA (THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS, G.I. JOE: RETALIATION), Carol Kane (THE PRINCESS BRIDE, ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES) and Tom Waits (THE BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS, BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA).

The plot is currently unknown.

With this kind of cast in place, Jarmusch's new movie HAS to be worthing seeing, right? I've never been the world's biggest Jarmusch fan but I love his first movie STRANGER THAN PARADISE, which is comprised of a series of long one-take scenes shot in black-and-white AKA a film student's dream.  THE DEAD DON'T DIE is written and directed by Jim Jarmusch (ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE, GHOST DOG: THE WAY OF THE SAMURAI) and produced by Joshua Astrachan and Carter Logan. Focus Features and Universal Pictures International will release it on June 14, 2019.
