J.J. Abrams The Knights of Ren

The Star Wars Celebration event took place over the weekend and with it brought an exciting new look at ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, the first spin-off film in Disney and Lucasfilm's enourmous new Star Wars franchise. It will certainly be interesting to see exactly what a Star Wars spin-off film will look like and in what ways it will differ from the main saga, but ROGUE ONE will merely be the first of a long line of Star Wars spin-off flicks. In addition to ROGUE ONE, upcoming spin-off's include one featuring a young Han Solo starring Alden Ehrenreich and another rumoured to be centered around Boba Fett.

There's an entire galaxy worth of stories to be told using the anthology format, and I'm sure we'll be seeing many of them, but Collider caught up with STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS director J.J. Abrams recently and asked him what anthology story he'd like to see in the future.

There isn’t something that I’d love to see—I guess the one thing I would say is there’s a Knights of Ren story that I think would be pretty cool to tell.

If you need a refresher, the Knights of Ren were the group associated with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS who appeared for a painfully brief moment during one of Rey's (Daisy Ridley) visions. As Kylo will no doubt remain a big part of the STAR WARS sequel trilogy, we probably haven't seen the last of his buddies, but J.J. Abrams obviously knows that there's much more of their story that could be told. The first Star Wars spin-off, ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, is set for a December 16, 2016 release.
