Just yesterday it seemed to be confirmed that we’d be seeing a trailer for a CLOVERFIELD prequel this weekend in front of IRON MAN 2. Well folks, apparently this mysterious trailer we have coming our way has absolutely nothing to do with CLOVERFIELD, or so says the man behind the curtain.
The guys over at NY Mag’s Vulture, who broke the news yesterday that this SUPER-8 trailer was connected to CLOVERFIELD, are now doing a 180 and saying SUPER-8 has nothing at all to do with CLOVERFIELD. Why are they saying this? Well mystery mastermind J.J. Abrams told them so of course! You see, after the onslaught of buzz that hit the net following yesterday’s announcement Mr. Abrams (above) must’ve felt the need to clarify a few things, or so he tells Vulture:
“You have to check [out the trailer]. But it has nothing whatsoever to do with Cloverfield, despite your expert reporting.”
Abrams also refused to talk about the project ‘until it’s done’ and confirmed that the canisters holding the trailer require special codes to open. Well damn… so what the hell is SUPER-8? Your guess is as good as mine ladies and gentlemen. We’ll all be able to check out the trailer for ourselves this weekend and I suppose we’ll go from there! For now I’ll leave you all with a supposed description of the trailer.. Be sure to steer clear if you don’t like spoilers!
It shows a bunch of kids who are shooting a movie with a Super 8 camera in the seventies or eighties. When they develop the film, they notice that there’s an alien creature in the frame.
