Harry Potter author JK Rowling cast a Cheering Charm on fans of her beloved fantasy series on Friday, by confirming that she's currently hard at work penning a script to the third chapter in her Fantastic Beasts film series. She said as much when fielding a fan question on her official website by saying the following:
“I’ve just finished the fourth Galbraith novel, Lethal White, and I’m now writing the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts 3,” she posted. “After that I’ll be writing another book for children. I’ve been playing with the (non-Harry Potter/wizarding world) story for about six years, so it’s about time I get it down on paper.”
The next film in the Harry Potter spinoff franchise, FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD, is the highly-anticipated sequel to FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM (2016). Both installments are directed by Harry Potter movie alum David Yates, who is expected to helm a total of five films for the spinoff series.
When FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD aparates into theaters, Magizoologist Newt Scamander joins forces with young Albus Dumbledore to prevent the devious Gellert Grindelwald from raising pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings.
In addition to announcing her work on the script, Rowling also confirmed her role as a producer on the second feature of the Fantastic Beasts saga by saying, "Warner Bros and David Yates, the director, have always let me have my say, though not necessarily the final word. That’s true of all the producers, of whom I’m only one: our input is taken seriously but it is very much a collaborative effort. The director is ultimately responsible for everything that’s seen on the screen. As the screenwriter, the majority of my input comes at an earlier stage.”
Meanwhile, FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD starring Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore, Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald, Katherine Waterston as Tina, Alison Sudol as Queenie, Dan Fogler as Jacob, Ezra Miller as Credence, Zoë Kravitz as Leta Lestrange, and Callum Turner as Theseus Scamander will cast a spell on audiences come November 16th.
