The Joe Bob Briggs renaissance continues, as the Shudder streaming service has announced that they’re teaming up with the legendary movie host to bring us a new special in October. Joe Bob’s Halloween Hoedown will be airing October 8th at 9pm Eastern on Shudder TV!

In what has become an annual tradition, iconic horror host and foremost drive-in movie critic Joe Bob Briggs returns with a special The Last Drive-In double feature just in time for Halloween, premiering live on the Shudder TV feed. You’ll have to tune in to find out what movies Joe Bob has selected, but you can count on something scary and perfect for the season, with special guests to be announced.

The special will also be available on demand beginning October 10th.

As the synopsis notes, the movies shown tend to be kept secret until Joe Bob introduces them, but our host did take to social media to tease that he’ll be joined on this special by some “Halloween experts”. We can also expect to see Darcy the Mail Girl at the Halloween Hoedown.

This will be Joe Bob’s third Halloween special for Shudder. In 2019, he showed Halloween (1978), Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, and Halloween 5 during the Joe Bob’s Halloween Hootenanny special. In 2020, Haunt and Hack-O-Lantern were shown for the Joe Bob’s Halloween Hideaway special.

As long as Shudder keeps airing Joe Bob specials and seasons of his series The Last Drive-In, I will continue tuning in to watch them on Shudder TV with a smile on my face.

Joe Bob hosted Joe Bob’s Drive-in Theater on The Movie Channel from 1986 to 1996. He then moved over to TNT and hosted the show MonsterVision for four years. After going way too long without a show, he made his triumphant return with The Last Drive-In on Shudder in 2018.
