Joe Cornish and John Boyega say Attack the Block sequel a possibility

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

If you haven't seen Joe Cornish's cult British alien invasion horror-comedy ATTACK THE BLOCK starring a young John Boyega, do yourself a favor and check it out! It's funny, exciting, harrowing, and even had some real drama and pathos, and rightfully made Boyega a star.

Here's the official synopsis:

South London teenagers (John Boyega, Alex Esmail, Leeon Jones) defend their neighborhood from malevolent extraterrestrials.

Anyway, reportedly director Cornish and star Boyega always had ideas to do bigger and badder things in a sequel since the original's release in 2011, but it seems – after many false starts – the project might finally become a reality. In an interview on the podcast ScriptApart, Cornish mentioned meeting with Boyega about it earlier this year:

We’ve got ideas. I met with John a couple of months ago to talk about it…We’ve always had ideas after the first one. But obviously we’ve both been busy doing different things.

Boyega even responded positively to the news of Cornish talking about a sequel (though responding to Empire Magazine's reporting of the interview, rather than to the podcast itself):

So what do you guys think? Fans of the ATTACK THE BLOCK? If so, excited for a sequel? Either way, sound off below!
