UPDATE: Variety is reporting now that Emile Hirsch (INTO THE WILD) has joined Stone’s blossoming cast in an undisclosed role. The actor just recently wrapped filming on William Friedkin’s KILLER JOE opposite Matthew McConaughey, Thomas Haden Church, Gina Gershon, and Juno Temple.
Oliver Stone’s cast for his upcoming SAVAGES is taking very appealing shape.
According to Deadline, one of modern film’s more popular pairs, John Travolta and Uma Thurman (BE COOL, PULP FICTION), are in talks to join the ensemble cast that includes Aaron Johnson (KICK-ASS), Taylor Kitsch (JOHN CARTER OF MARS), Salma Hayek (PUSS IN BOOTS), Benicio del Toro (THE ICEMAN), and Blake Lively (GREEN LANTERN), all of whom now appear to be confirmed.
The film follows “two Laguna-based pot growers (Johnson & Kitsch) arm-twisted into working for a Mexican cartel (Del Toro & Hayek) when they kidnap O (Lively), the free spirited best friend of the growers.” Travolta would play a “burned out DEA agent” while Thurman would be O’s mother, ‘Paqu’.
SAVAGES is currently scheduled to begin production in July.
