Jonah Hex script talk

It’s been over 6 months since we last told you about the adaptation of JONAH HEX, so let me refresh your memory.

JONAH HEX is a DC Comics character from creator John Albano and artist Tony DeZuniga. Hex, known for having the right side of his face disfigured and wearing a Confederate army uniform, was a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter whose adventures always ended in blood. He first appeared in the early 1970s in the issues of “All-Star Western” before graduating to his own series in 1977 that ran for about 10 years. A new series was launched in 2005. The character also had a run in the 1990s that combined the Western genre with supernatural elements.

Sign me up! Although never really a huge fan of westerns, I’ve definately grown to like them in the past few years, especially with the western themed video games that have been coming around. So throw that together with some supernatural goodness and I’m down!

Well as I stated above, the fact that JONAH HEX was being adapted for the screen was announced months ago. Finally we have some updates coming from ShockTillYouDrop. They recently caught up with one of the writer/directors Brian Taylor. Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine are insane, in a great way! Their credits include directing CRANK and the upcoming GAME and CRANK 2. Not to mention they wrote those three flicks as well as PATHOLOGY.

So unfortunately JONAH HEX won’t start production until after CRANK 2. When STYD asked Taylor about HEX, he responded with: “I think it’s the best script we’ve written.” Whether you think that’s saying much or not, it’s a bold statement.

To read up a bit more on it, head over here. We’ll keep you updated on any HEX news right up until this bad boy hits theaters.

‘Yee-haw’ pretty much says it all…
