When it comes to suits and armor in movies both new and old, people have their preferences. The various Batman suits, Captain America’s helmet wings, etc.
Joss Whedon who has been promoting CABIN IN THE WOODS spoke with Empire about a suit change he didn’t agree with– Iron Man’s arc reactor. The Mark VI armor from IRON MAN 2 has a triangular-shaped chest plate to protect the reactor. However, Whedon thinks it looks like ass.
So what did he say about the changes to Iron Man’s suit for THE AVENGERS?
“Tony Stark’s suit seems to be going through a few iterations in the movie, a development that Whedon wrily attributes to “wear and tear”. “Marvel said, ‘We like to see the suits evolve,’ and I said, Great! Then you’re going back to the circle because the triangle is ass’. I’m a classicist. The circle has meaning, the triangle does not.”
