Jovovich is Queen

JoBloJoBlo

Once upon a time, Milla Jovovich was set to star in a movie called THE WINTER QUEEN, with director Paul Verhoeven helming the adaptation of the novel about a young woman in 1876 wrapped up in a mystery that involves the suicide of a young student and unravels into an international conspiracy. But that project was said to be dead in the water once Verhoeven walked before production even began.

But now the film has new life, as longtime Russian director Fyodor Bondarchuk is stepping in and THE WINTER QUEEN is looking like it might actually make it to the big screen some day. You might not have heard of him, but he’s behind the rather trippy INHABITED ISLAND which you can catch a glimpse of here.

Between this and THE FOURTH KIND, I’m glad Milla isn’t typecasting herself as “that action chick,” but honestly, I don’t think it would be such a bad thing if she did. Try to name more than three female action stars in Hollywood, and you’ll probably have a damn hard time doing it. But never fear, we’ll get to see Jovovich back to kicking ass in the endless amount of RESIDENT EVIL sequels and prequels that keep crawling out of the ground.
