Deadline and Variety are reporting Vincent D’Onofrio (MEN IN BLACK, “Law and Order: Criminal Intent”) has signed on to star as the villain in JURASSIC WORLD. Plot details aren’t available, but we can safely assume he’s not playing a T-Rex or Velociraptor; perhaps some jerky corporate type comparable to the one Arliss Howard played in THE LOST WORLD? Or maybe he’ll be an unsavory hunter or gamekeeper? Let the speculation run rampant.

D’Onofrio has experience playing unlikable characters, as evidenced by his turns in MIB, THE CELL, STRANGE DAYS and ESCAPE PLAN, among others. He’s still most likely best known as Pvt. “Gomer” Pyle in FULL METAL JACKET, in which he’s unforgettable.

D’Onofrio joins Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson and Irrfan Khan (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN), whose name had been rumored in regards to the sequel previously but now appears to be confirmed.

Colin Trevorrow is directing JURASSIC WORLD from a screenplay he wrote with Derek Connolly; production has commenced in Hawaii and a June 12, 2015 release is planned.
