Just kidding, The Avengers will be at Comic-Con

After news that practically every major studio, including Marvel, was pulling out of Comic-Con as a mechanism to promote upcoming films, it seems at least one movie’s marketing department came to their senses.

THE AVENGERS will indeed have a presence at Comic-Con, but one that’s a bit stealthy. Reports are still coming in, but info is leaking out that there will be a SHIELD presence, with set pieces from the movie at a “recruiting station.”

It also might be the case that the stars of the conglomerate film might show up for fan service. Rumor has it Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) could be on hand to say hello, though it depends on their obviously swamped schedules.

Most of this info is via FirstShowing, but EW reports that there will likely be a teaser trailer as well that debuts at Con. How much of a tease it is remains to be seen. It could be a DARK KNIGHT voiceover/logo spot, or actually show a bit of footage. In any case, I think it’s at least good that THE AVENGERS decided to show up in some form.
