Justin Roiland & Dan Harmon reveal Rick and Morty’s origins in BTS video

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

After waiting close to two years for the third season of Rick and Morty to finally debut, it seems that the end has arrived all too quickly. The season finale will air this Sunday on Adult Swim, so it's time to prepare ourselves for another hiatus, which, hopefully, won't be quite as long. It's been remarkable to watch the show grow in popularity over the past few years, especially when you know about its humble beginnings. Earlier this year Adult Swim posted the first installment of a behind-the-scenes video which chronicled the early work of both Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, and now, the second installment has brought the story full circle. There are plenty of fascinating tidbits about those early days to be found in the videos, including just how close the series came to casting someone else to voice Morty.

The finale of Rick and Morty's third season airs on Sunday at 11:30pm ET/PT on Adult Swim.
