Lately, Justin Timberlake has been doing even more in the acting department than in music. With THE SOCIAL NETWORK, BAD TEACHER, and now SPINNING GOLD, it’s kind of hard for him to say that he’s “not trying to be a serious actor, you f*ckers”. His words not mine.

SPINNING GOLD is a biopic about 1970s record producer Neil Bogart. He handled acts like KISS, Donna Summer, The Village People, and Parliament. The film was scripted by Bogart’s son Tim and tells the rags-to-riches story of Bogart, “a dirt-poor Jewish kid from Brooklyn who went on to become a multimillionaire and help define 70s pop culture with his Casablanca label.” Bogart died in 1982 at the age of 39 of cancer.

When Timberlake walked into the room he apparently wowed Bogart’s son who said, “When Justin walked into the room, that was the moment I had been waiting for 29 years. He has the exact same energy as my father, the same glimmer in his eye.” Production is slated to begin on the indie financed film in 2012.

Also, Timberlake might get a chance to bring his music into the picture since an album is being planned in conjuction with the movie.
