Karen Gillan says that we may feel sympathy towards Nebula in Guardians 2

Karen Gillan Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Although it still may seem like a long way off, we're actually less than four months away from the release of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 and reuniting with those galaxy-saving A-holes. Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel) will all be back, as will Nebula (Karen Gillan), the adopted daughter of Thanos who was raised with Gamora and caused a fair amount of trouble for our little group of would be heroes in the previous film. This time around she'll actually be a member of the Guardians, but as James Gunn cautions, "you never know what's up with that one."

Karen Gillan recently spoke with The Wrap about the state of her character in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, and teased that we may feel a tinge of sympathy towards Nebula this time around.

What I love about the second movie for Nebula in particular is that we get — We know that she’s a pretty angry woman with some daddy issues. [But] in the second movie, we’re going to start to see how much pain her father actually caused her, and we’re going to delve right into the relationship with her sister Gamora. I think we might even feel a tinge of sympathy towards Nebula this time, because we really start to see the emotional crack in her character.

I felt as though we never got quite enough of Nebula in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, so I'm pleased to hear that the sequel will delve a little deeper into what makes her tick. Speaking of more Nebula, earlier today Gillan confirmed that she would be making a "little appearance" as Nebula in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. We know that Zoe Saldana will also be returning for INFINITY WAR, perhaps we'll finally see the pair confront Thanos (Josh Brolin).

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 is set for a May 5, 2017 release.
