UPDATE: It’s now being reported that Sandler himself will also star in PIXELS.

We haven’t heard much from the Adam Sandler-produced PIXELS since last year, when it was reported Chris Columbus (HOME ALONE) might be sitting in the director’s chair. Now that it’s official Mr. Columbus will be helming the big-budget action comedy, a couple of stars are in talks to join the project.

Deadline reports Kevin James and Josh Gad will be two of the four main leads in PIXELS. James is no surprise since he and Sandler have worked together a handful of times, but Gad is considerably lesser known. However, as he’s the voice of Olaf, the snowman sidekick in FROZEN, his stock is rising considerably. (He also gained much acclaim for his Tony-nominated performance in “The Book of Mormon.”)

Here’s what PIXELS is all about:

When aliens attack by staging versions of ’80s video games on an epic scale, four champion arcade gamers are called back into action to save the world.

This could either be really fun or really dumb.

The flick is based on an internet short that made headlines a few years ago, about video game characters attacking New York. Check it out below.
