Oh SCREAM 4. I get the feeling you’re going to be one of these flicks where we report on every little rumbling about thee, right? Well I suppose it’s understandable. You guys want to hear about every little update regarding SCREAM 4 don’t you? Of course you do!
So that’s exactly why I’m here today to tell you all that veteran SCREAM scribe Kevin Williamson, who’s penned the entire franchise thus far, has been talking a bit about the fourth installment of the popular slasher franchise. The writer recently chatted with iF Magazine about a number of things, one of which was SCREAM 4 and how they almost didn’t get their ‘Sydney Prescot!’
“To have [Neve Campbell as] Sydney back – well, I was always holding out hope, because the script is about Sydney, Gale [Courteney Cox] and Dewey [David Arquette]. The story for [SCREAM] Four, Five and Six – the launching pin of that was four, which is those three characters. But I found out originally when [Campbell] declined, I had to reroute it and that put all the onus on Gale and Dewey to carry the whole story, and that was me thinking fast on my toes, but luckily, we got her, I don’t have to do that, I can do it exactly the way I wanted and the story’s going to be told the way I originally conceived it. I’ve been contracted to write four and five.”
Interesting. A look at what we had coming our way if Neve Campbell decided to stay away. Well we all know what happened there, the actress came to her senses and joined the fun! Campbell and Williamson join Wes Craven, David Arquette and Courtney Cox Arquette (below) in returning to the franchise that made us ask everyone we knew what their favorite scary movie was.
