Here’s an interesting turn of events… you know how kids love to write to that jolly old fat man every Christmas? Well we’ve got a little guy here that dropped good ol’ Dracula a letter on Halloween. As you can see I’m talking about the children’s comic DEAR DRACULA.
The storybook spans the bridge between children’s book and comic. It consists of 48 pages and comes from Image/Shadowline Comics. Joshua Williamson penned the book with illustrations by Vincente ‘Vinny’ Navarrete. Why in the world am I talking about a children’s comic? Well according to ICv2 Kickstart Entertainement just optioned this one for an adaptation!
You may recognize Kickstart as the guys that brought us last year’s WANTED. Might that mean we’ll be seeing a more grown up DEAR DRACULA? God I hope so! The story centers on a boy who loves horror movies and decides to write to Dracula on Halloween the way ordinary kids write to Santa Claus at Christmas. I’m sure all kinds of fun ensues!
Word has it DEAR DRACULA will be looking to be made into a CGI film with Williamson and Navarrete working on a script. Along with WANTED and DEAR DRACULA Kickstart Entertainment have acquired several other options including PREACHER, THE RED STAR, THE BOYS, MONSTER ATTACK NETWORK, and THE COURIERS.
