One of the most highly anticipated movies of 2005 was no doubt Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven. His long-awaited return to historical adventure, following his classic Gladiator, it seemed poised to make Orlando Bloom a star and become the definitive film about The Crusades.
Instead, the critical reaction to the film was middling and the box office anemic. However, once Scott released his director's cut, the film was reevaluated. Critics that hated the film originally suddenly praised it as a masterpiece.
