Orlando Bloom stars in dark revenge thriller Retaliation!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I'm weirdly rooting for Orlando Bloom. After playing the dreamy Elven archer Legolas in the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy straight out of drama school, he was positioned as Hollywood's next A-List "it" guy. He even got another successful franchise under his belt in the form of the original PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN trilogy (though, like LOTR, he wasn't the main attraction). But after major flops like ELIZABETHTOWN, KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, and THE THREE MUSKETEERS, his star started to implode (even his return to his iconic role as Legolis in THE HOBBIT trilogy was mostly met with derision, more than anything).

But Bloom seems to be making a comeback! His steampunk fantasy Amazon series CARNIVAL ROW was successful enough to get a second season, and now he's stretching his acting muscles with the dramatic revenge thriller RETALIATION, where he plays

an adult victim of childhood sexual abuse confronts the horrors of his past.

And you can see his intense performance in the trailer for yourself at the top of the article!

Meanwhile, while RETALIATION premiered at at the 2017 Edinburgh Film Festival, it will soon be available to the public digitally and On Demand July 24th.

So what do you guys think? Either way, sound off below!
