Knock at the Cabin: Rupert Grint, Nikki Amuka-Bird cast in the new Shyamalan film

M. Night Shyamalan’s new film Knock at the Cabin will mark the writer/director’s first time working with Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), but for the supporting cast Shyamalan has turned to two actors he has worked with before. Rupert Grint, who has a role on the Shyamalan-produced series Servant, and Nikki Amuka-Bird, who had a role in Shyamalan’s film Old, have just signed on to appear in the film, Deadline reports.

Details on the characters and the plot are being kept under wraps. All we know is that Shyamalan was inspired to cast Bautista in Knock at the Cabin after seeing him in Blade Runner 2049, as he needed someone who was both large but capable of being “still”. Shyamalan told The Hollywood Reporter that in Blade Runner 2049, Bautista was

still in a way that was powerful. There’s a type of stillness where you’re not doing nothing; you’re doing everything and you’re still. Every cell in your body will do what it’s supposed to do if you’re thinking something correctly. And Dave was embodying all of this philosophy in that scene … I didn’t know who he was at that time, and he stuck in my head. So when this script came, I was like, ‘There seems to be one guy who can play this giant human being and do the stillness.’ So I asked Dave.”

Shyamalan is also producing Knock at the Cabin, which is set up at Universal Pictures. The film already has a release date scheduled: February 3, 2023. It was originally scheduled to reach theatres on February 17th, but moved forward to avoid the Disney / Marvel film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

We’ll keep you updated on Knock at the Cabin as the project continues to move forward, but don’t expect to know much about it until we get close to its release date.
