A story over at Variety caught my eye today. Now after checking through it… I’m not entirely sure if this constitutes ‘horror’ news, but it involves dead people and communicating with them… so that’s enough to sell me! Plus the people behind this one are key!
I’m talking about GHOST TOWN, which is being both co-written and directed by David Koepp. Now Mr. Koepp (right) is a screenwriter extraordinaire. His credits are pretty impressive, and there’s too many to list here, so if your not familiar with the man, just look him up on IMDB.
So having GHOST TOWN be both written and directed by Koepp is pretty intriguing in it’s own. Then comes the cast, which includes the beautiful Tea Leoni (below), Greg Kinnear, and English comedian Ricky Gervais. And the cherry on top? The synopsis, which reads: A dentist has a near-death experience during routine surgery and gains the ability to communicate with the dead.
It’s being described as a ‘quirky dark comedy.’ I’m seeing a comedic SIXTH SENSE while still staying remotely serious. Oh I’m definately down! If anything this one has the makings to be a cult classic, if not more. But alas, only time will tell.
