Kong DVD in March?

Okay, I admit it. I never went to see THE LORD OF THE RINGS in theatres. And I don’t mean just the first film. The entire trilogy. I did the same thing with KING KONG. Why? I don’t know, but I’m sure that’s sounds like a capital crime to some. At least I snagged the DVDs, which were well worth the wait (and then some).

As for the DVD for KONG, obviously I don’t have it yet, and I won’t have the opportunity until March 28th, which DavisDVD reports is when Donkey Kong’s daddy hits the shelves. No official announcement has been made by Universal with regards to the release, but considering that now the news is on the ‘net, it’ll happen soon. Unfortunately, with the lack of an official announcement, there’s no word on the official extras. Hopefully Jackson convinces Universal to put out for a Kong-sized edition DVD packed with extras, since the Kong diaries are probably the tip of the iceberg from Jackson.

In the meantime, here’s a fun fact: Originally, the KING KONG license was public domain, as Universal didn’t keep the rights. Nintendo took advantage of this, and made Donkey Kong, an obvious rip-off. The rest is videogame history.
