Landmarks crumble on new Independence Day: Resurgence posters

As depicted in INDEPENDENCE DAY, Earth was able to take down invading alien forces in the War of 1996. Twenty years later, the invaders are returning, and judging from the trailers for INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE the destruction they're bringing with them will play out on even larger scale than what we saw in '96.

The most famous image from INDEPENDENCE DAY was the shot of an alien ship blowing apart the White House. Even more famous landmarks are in danger in RESURGENCE, and a new batch of posters shows landmarks from around the globe taking damage. Big Ben in London. The Eiffel Tower in Paris. The Statue of Liberty in New York. The Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

We always knew they were coming back.  After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale.  Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet.  But nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force.  Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE is directed by Roland Emmerich from a screenplay he worked on with Dean Devlin, James Vanderbilt, James A. Woods, and Nicolas Wright.

The film stars Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, Judd Hirsch, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Liam Hemsworth, Joey King, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, DeObia Oparei, William Fichtner, and Jessie Usher.

There's going to be carnage all over the big screen when RESURGENCE reaches theatres on June 23rd.
