“This is the first major deal we’ve signed with a studio, and we did it because we felt confident we could go from ‘Welfare Queen’ to ‘Horror in the Hamptons,’ which is a script by Alex Mirkin about a bunch of 16-year-olds chopping each other up,” Latifah said.
Sweet! I actually have a lot of respect for Queen Latifah’s project choices when it comes to film, and have no reason to doubt she’ll bring a well-thought out sensibility to genre work too. If she wants to focus on Nicole Richie chasing down Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton with a machete, I’m happy to go along for the ride!
