Len Wiseman offers glimpse behind the scenes of his Swamp Thing pilot

Swamp Thing

I love to travel, but there are plenty of locations around the world that I have no interest in venturing into, and high on the list of places I don't to be is deep in a swamp. So when I look at the images and videos director Len Wiseman has shared from the set of the pilot he's shooting for a new series based on the DC Comics character Swamp Thing, I do not wish I was there with the cast and crew. Even if the actors are smiling during a boat ride or the crew are setting off a large explosion, they're still in a place I wouldn't want to visit.

Working from a script by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman, Wiseman is directing a cast led by Andy Bean as biologist Alec Holland, whose "conflict with dark forces" leads to him becoming the title character, and Crystal Reed as CDC Doctor Abby Arcane, who

investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.

Bean and Reed can be seen in Wiseman's Instagram posts, embedded below. Their Swamp Thing co-stars include Maria Sten, Jeryl Prescott, Jennifer Beals, Virginia Madsen, Will Patton, Henderson Wade, Ian Ziering, and Kevin Durand, with Derek Mears as Swamp Thing himself.

James Wan's company Atomic Monster is producing Swamp Thing in association with Warner Bros. Television. Wan, Wiseman, Verheiden, and Dauberman also serve as executive producers on the series with Michael Clear. Rob Hackett is co-producer.

Swamp Thing will be released through the DC Universe streaming service sometime next year, possibly on May 10th.
