The second season of the Fox television series inspired by the horror classic THE EXORCIST needs an almost entirely new cast for its second season, and the names of new cast members are coming out at a steady flow. Over the last two and a half weeks we've learned that John Cho, Brianna Hildebrand, and Zuleikha Robinson have signed on to star in the new season, and now you can add another name to the list: Li Jun Li.
Alfonso Herrera, Ben Daniels, and Kurt Egyiawan are the only season one cast members returning for season two, which picks up with
Father Tomas Ortega (Herrera) and a newly collarless Marcus Keane (Daniels) out of Chicago and on the road, searching out evil. Across the Atlantic, Father Bennett (Egyiawan) attempts to weed out those within the Vatican who have turned against God. Ultimately, Tomas and Marcus are led to Andrew Kim (Cho), a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle. When one of the children under Andrew’s care is targeted by a powerful force, the two priests head west, setting themselves on a collision course with hell.
Hildebrand is set to play a foster child named Verity, and Robinson will be playing Mouse, a mysterious figure who is waging a war against the Catholic patriarchy.
Li has signed on to play a character named Rose, and a lengthy description of the character has been made available. Rose is
a social worker assigned to the group home run by Andrew Kim. She is a by-the-books rule follower who arrives to investigate whether Andy is still capable of caring for the children without a maternal figure in the home. Though she’s a strict follower of the rules and boundaries that come with her profession, it becomes clear that she and Andy have a history, and Rose is the first who is able to see through Andy’s brave front. Having grown up in foster care herself, she understands the difficulty of creating a stable home for these children and can relate to them easily.
That sounds like a pretty major role, but you never know how long someone might last when there are demonic forces lurking around.
The Exorcist returns to Fox on Friday, September 29th. The show runners envision a six or seven season run for the series, so hopefully this season's ratings will be good.
