If you’re a long-time reader of the site, you may remember a flick called THE REVENANT. We covered it back in 2009 when it was playing a lot of film festivals but haven’t heard a word about it since. Lightning Entertainment has now acquired the international sales rights to the picture.
Lightning will represent the zombie horror/comedy at Cannes this month with a new trailer and a marking screening. Hopefully the new preview will make its way online soon, but for now you can check out the old trailer below.
The picture is written and directed by D. Kerry Prior, a former special effects artist for Dream Quest Images who worked on such films as THE ABYSS, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3, THE LOST BOYS and THE BLOB. David Anders (CHILDREN OF THE CORN) and Chris Wylde star.
The film tells the story of a soldier (Anders) who is killed in Iraq and then finds himself resurrected as a “revenant,” or one who has returned from the dead. He turns to his slacker best friend (Wylde) to help him manage his newfound thirst for blood, and the duo quickly realize that this zombie-fied state is a perfect opportunity to become vigilante crime fighters. Their adventure quickly becomes more complicated and bloody than they expected, however.
