Looks like Lucy Liu’s turn as a recently undead reporter bent on revenge on those who made her so is one step closer to hitting the silver screen. Fangoria reports that filming on RISE just wrapped in L.A.
For those who may have missed it, [t]he premise has reporter Sadie Blake (Liu) reluctantly joining the ranks of the undead after an unfortunate encounter with a cult of vampires; unable to reverse her condition, she decides to seek revenge by hunting down and destroying the cult members over the course of 48 hours, with the help of a troubled police detective (Chiklis) who lost a daughter to the same monstrous group.
The whole project sounds very solid, with a cast that also includes Michael Chiklis, James D’Arcy, Carla Gugino, Robert Forster, Cameron Richardson, and Marilyn Manson. Honestly, they had me at Carla Gugino.
Add to that director Sebastian Gutierrez’s comments that the film is very bleak noir and that it it has a very nightmarish and relentless quality and you can bet your sweet ass I’ll be there on opening weekend.
‘Til then we’ll all just have to make due with pictures of Lucy kissing Cameron Diaz and Carla being Carla!
