Marvel has found its directors in Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead for Loki season 2. The duo will co-direct a handful of episodes for the season, with Tom Hiddleston reprising his iconic role as Loki Laufeyson. Hiddleston and Michael Waldron, who wrote and served as showrunner of season 1, will exec produce with Eric Martin writing all six episodes of the new season.

Loki is the first of Disney’s Marvel shows to get a second season. The studio announced Loki season 2 during the end credits for the final episode in season 1. For the moment, Hiddleston is the only cast member set to return, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for more of Owen Wison as Mobius, Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, and Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15.

Benson and Moorhead are known for helming episodes of such tentpole series as The Twilight Zone and Archive 81. Marvel fell head over heels for the duo after viewing some of their early work and hired them to direct several episodes of Moon Knight. Word has it Marvel was so impressed with Benson and Moorhead’s work on Moon Knight that they immediately began looking for other opportunities to work with them.

While we can make assumptions regarding what Loki season 2 will be about, there’s no way of knowing. The fact of the matter is that the overall fabric of the MCU changes with the release of each film and television series. It’s an ever-evolving, money-printing world that’s as unpredictable as Loki’s honesty. Will the Lord of Lies be picking up the pieces of timelines he helped destroy? Can we expect him to save the day while riding a jet ski with Mobius at the helm? Will Sylvie still be along for the ride? Nothing is ever a guarantee when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but now we know who will steer the ship when Loki season 2 comes to pass.

Are you excited for Loki to get a second season? What do you think the plot of the season will be?
