Lost Themes III: John Carpenter’s latest album gets February release

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Back in 2015, legendary filmmaker and composer John Carpenter collaborated with Cody Carpenter (his son) and Daniel Davies to craft a music album called Lost Themes, which he described as "a soundtrack for the movies in your mind". Lost Themes II followed in 2016, and now it has been announced that after nearly five years – during which the two Carpenters and Davies composed the score for 2018's HALLOWEEN (watch it HERE) – a third album of Lost Themes is on the way.

Lost Themes III: Alive After Death has a release date of February 5, 2021, and the album is already available to pre-order directly from the record company, Sacred Bones Records. Pick up a copy at THIS LINK, where there's one CD option and four vinyl options. The site notes, all vinyl copies come with a massive 24×36" fold-out poster.

John Carpenter explained how he creates music with Davies and his son:

We begin with a theme, a bass line, a pad, something that sounds good and will lead us to the next layer. We then just keep adding on from there. We understand each other's strengths and weaknesses, how to communicate without words, and the process is easier now than it was in the beginning. We’ve matured."

The lead single from Lost Themes III is called "Weeping Ghost", and it can be heard in the embed below. Carpenter is an awesome composer, so I'm glad to know there are more Lost Themes on the way.
